About This Service
Innovative Community Participation is one of the most exciting supports available under the NDIS — because it is designed to go beyond the ordinary. It funds creative, purpose-designed programs and activities that help participants connect with their community in new, meaningful and often transformative ways.
At Heartful Care Services, we design and deliver Innovative Community Participation programs that are genuinely innovative — built around participants’ interests, goals and aspirations, and focused on opening up new opportunities for social connection, skill development and community contribution.
We believe that innovation in community participation is not about novelty for its own sake — it is about finding the right pathways for each individual to connect with their community in ways that are genuinely meaningful to them.

Our Approach
We begin every Innovative Community Participation engagement by genuinely exploring what matters to the participant — their interests, their aspirations, and the kinds of community connections they want to build. From there, we co-design a program that is truly tailored — not a pre-packaged activity selected from a list.
We work actively with community organisations, clubs, groups and activity providers across Canberra to create pathways that extend beyond our support — so that community participation becomes genuinely self-sustaining over time. Our ultimate goal is for participants to be engaged community members who no longer need us to facilitate every connection.
