What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government initiative that provides funding and support to Australians under the age of 65 with a permanent and significant disability. It gives participants genuine choice and control — you decide which providers and services work best for your life and goals.

How Does NDIS Funding Work?
Once accepted, you receive an NDIS Plan with funding across three categories: Core Supports (everyday activities), Capacity Building (skills and independence), and Capital Supports (equipment and modifications). You choose how your funding is managed.
Three Ways to Manage Your Funding
- Agency Managed — NDIA pays your providers. Limited to registered providers only.
- Plan Managed — A plan manager like Heartful Care Services manages your funding. Access registered and unregistered providers. No out-of-pocket cost.
- Self Managed — You manage your own funding and payments. Maximum flexibility, higher admin responsibility.
